We believe events and tournaments are a critical part of the player and programme development. Experience has proven the importance of providing players who show interest and ability the opportunity to compete and measure themselves against others in accelerates the player’s performance and sense of self-worth.
In addition to benefits synonymous with participating in any competitive sport, namely discipline, self-motivation, problem-solving and the ability to overcome obstacles, the disabled are inspired by seeing others similar to themselves competing and excelling. A sense of belonging in kindled amongst all disabled players and spectators alike raising their belief in what is possible and hence lifting their personal aspirations and self-confidence.
We have developed a progressive schedule of events which to cater for all levels of competition. South Africa currently hosts a series of Regional and National Events as well as six internationally recognised tournaments and in time WTSA hopes to offer a league, and an interprovincial event.
