Disability: Paraplegic

A car accident in her childhood left Rose van der Meer a paraplegic but she decided that this was not going to be a stumbling block to her future success or happiness; this setback would not beat nor break Rose. With this fighting spirit this determined young woman took up the game of tennis – she was aged 15 at the time. Ever since she took to the courts armed with racquet and a healthy dose or courage Rose has achieved great things and has several accolades to her name. These include travelling to Perth, Australia to represent her country at the Youth Disability Games as well as playing prestigious tournaments in Poland and Italy. It was in Poland where Rose reached the doubles finals, and with her partner, managed to claim the title – a massive win for South Africa.

Rose was selected to represent SA in the Youth Disability Games in Australia, 1999

Rose has participated in all the ACSA Open tournaments across SA between 2007-2010

Rose represented South Africa at the World Team Cup in Italy, 2008
