KAREN LOSCH AMONG BIGGEST NAMES NOMINATED FOR SA SPORT AWARDS

Wheelchair Tennis South Africa (WTSA) General Manager Karen Losch is amongst a glittering collection of the country’s greatest sports stars nominated for the 2016 SA Sports Awards. The winners will be revealed at the Awards Ceremony at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Mangaung, Free State on November 27.

The 46-year-old Losch, who won the Administrator of the year award at the recent Gauteng Sports Awards, will be hoping to win the national Administrator of the year Award after missing out last year. This time, accompanied by a provincial award, her opponents include Robin de Kock (Surfing) and Virginia Mabaso from Rowing.

Early last month, Losch scooped her first major accolade at Silver Star Casino in Mogale City when Gauteng celebrated the outstanding achievements of sportsmen and sportswomen and Losch was amid the eminent sports stars being rewarded for their hard work.

Losch has been the driving force behind the running of the association and tournaments where she is involved in all aspects to organize and manage international tournaments. South Africa now hosts six tournaments on the UNIQLO World Wheelchair Tennis Tour including one of only 6 Super Series (Premier events) offered each year. It is through the eminent Losch that today the federation has five players ranked in the top 13 globally, has an astonishing 70 plus players on the world ranking and has over 600 active players in SA and more than 50 centers and schools offering wheelchair tennis coaching nationwide.

“Our achievements looking back, we are very proud and grateful to Karen Losch who continue to work tirelessly for the better of the federation. It’s been a great year! The achievements to date have largely been achieved thanks to the generosity of our headline sponsor, Airports Company South Africa.” said WTSA Chairperson of the board Rose van der Meer.
