South African men's top ranked wheelchair tennis ace Evans Maripa and doubles partner Maikel Scheffers of the Netherlands seeded No 1 dispatched Brits' second seeds, Marc Mccarrol and David Phillipson 6-3 6-1 in the final round of the 2015 Trofeo Della Mole, the ITF 2 level event on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour 2015.

This is the first time that Maripa and Scheffers clinched a title on a team debut and it is the first ITF 2 series doubles title for both Maripa and Scheffers for the 2015 season.

In the mens Singles event Japan's Takuya Miki ended the hopes of South Africa’s world No.14 Evans Maripa as the Japan eighth seed eliminated Maripa 6-4 6-1 in the semifinal round last week Friday.

The 25-year-old Maripa easily disposed of Mike Denayer of Belgium in the opening round 6-1 7-5 and went on to demolish sixth seed Martin Legner from Austria in straight sets 6-3 6-3 in the quarterfinal round.

"I was the only player representing the country in the tournament and I was hoping to bring the singles and doubles titles at home but I am very excited that Scheffers and I were able to seal the doubles crown", said Maripa.
