Montjane and Maripa off to the US
South Africa's top women's wheelchair tennis star, Kgothatso "KG" Montjane, and the country’s number one men's player, Evans Maripa, will jet off to the United States on Sunday to take part in the Pensacola and Cajun Opens, both ITF 1 events.
Over 80 of the world’s top wheelchair tennis players from 16 nations will compete in the Pensacola Open from March 18-22 and in Baton Rouge from 25-29 March 2015.
Through continued support from Airports Company South Africa, Montjane and Maripa have prepared well for this tour.
At last year's Cajun Classic, Montjane and partner Jordanne Whiley of Great Britain took the women's doubles title after defeating German Sabine Ellerbrock and Great Britain's Lucy Shuker 7-6(3) 3-6 11-9.
Both Montjane and Maripa said they were determined to perform well this year and gain more top-flight experience before returning home to prepare for the Airports Company South Africa Gauteng Open, which takes place from 8-12 April, and the Airports Company South Africa SA Open, which runs from 14-18 April.
"I am looking forward to both tournaments and I have trained well enough to perform well," Montjane said.
"Both tournaments are very important to us as they play a significant role in preparation for next month's tournaments."
