Wheelchair Tennis South Africa has named two teams to represent the nation in the upcoming BNP Paribas World Team Cup African Qualification tournament in Nairobi, Kenya.

The country will be represented by six players in the men's and women's divisions at the international event, which takes place from February 26 to March 1.The qualifying event will be played in a round robin format.

South Africa are set to face hosts Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritius and Tanzania, with all seven teams looking to earn qualification into the BNP Paribas World Team Cup that will be held at Club Alibey Manavgat, in Turkey, from May 25 to 31. The BNP Paribas World Team Cup, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2015, is the ITF's flagship wheelchair tennis event, often referred to as the Davis Cup and Fed Cup of wheelchair tennis.

South Africa's top-ranked player in the men's division, world No 15 Evans Maripa, will spearhead the men's squad. Maripa, who won the Queensland Open earlier this year, will team up with Leon Els, and Sean de Hilster.

World No 9 Kgothatso 'KG' Montjane, the country's top-ranked women's player, will lead the women's side. Montjane, who also won the Queensland Open in Brisbane last month, will be joined by Mariska Venter and Thando Hlatshwayo.

Wheelchair Tennis South Africa general manager Karen Losch was delighted that the young players in the squad would get a chance to gain valuable international experience.
"Participation in international tournaments such as the BNP Paribas World Team Cup is very important to the growth and development of our upcoming stars." Losch said.
